Since they are wooden, they dont corrode or rust so the spices stay fresh. You can also adjust them depending on how fine you want to grind the spices. There are five levels you can adjust to from coarse to fine. For fine grinding, turn the nut clockwise and for coarse grinding, go counter-clockwise.
