Description
Seeds can be sown outdoors anytime after last spring frost, minimum soil temp is 48 degrees F. Plant 1 inch deep, a little deeper for sandier soils. Cover soil to warm if necessary. Pole beans: Set up trellises, or cattle panels, and plant 3 inches apart.
“Scarlet Runner” Prolific green pods that can be eaten while young as snap beans or left to mature on the vine. The flowers are scarlet-red and edible, as well. Pods average 8 and are slender and full of flavor. Seeds are great for Planting in Garden or for storing in a seed safe for emergency.
Stand in the garden barefoot for five minutes before planting. If your feet don’t get cold, then the soil is an adequate temperature for planting.
